The third edition of the festival „Patterns and Stitches“ will be held from November 7 to 9 at Bioskop Balkan, focusing on contemporary minimalist music and experimental sound forms. Over three days, the audience will have the opportunity to attend premieres, as well as educational and artistic programs exploring the relationship between sound, space, and body.

The Ensemble for Second New Music, leading experts in the field of minimalist music, will again push the boundaries of sound and perception. Their dedication goes beyond just performance — minimalist music is presented as a medium that does not require interpretation, but presence — listening as an act of dwelling in time.

The festival opens with the workshop „Rzewski & Rice“ led by Nataša Penezić, during which the ensemble of more than 30 participants will perform the compositions „Les Moutons de Panurge“ by Frederic Rzewski and „Ricefall“ by Michael Pisaro. These scores, which rely on collective performance and precise structural logic, serve as an introduction to the festival’s thematic frame: sound as material that is sewn, patterned, and stretched.
The second day features the performance and installation „Fonopoetika“ by Katalin Ladik, an artist whose work destabilizes the boundaries between language, body, and sound. Her creativity opens dialogues between the inner worlds of performers and the audience, intensifying the festival program into a multilayered artistic experience. A conversation with the artist, led by Vera Kopicl and Silvia Dražić, will further illuminate the methodological and poetic layers of her work.

The festival finale on November 9 features six premiere performances by domestic composers: Miroslav Miša Savić ( „Yug Yugoistok“), Stanko Simić ( „Butterfly Dream“), Nataša Bogojević ( „The Sonorities of Patterns and Stitches“), Andrej Negić ( „Fade in“), Igor Gostuški ( „Toccata ADNM“), and Dragoljub Ilić Ilket ( „Jabba music/Džaba muzika“). This event is an opportunity to unite the deepest meanings of minimalism, art, and innovation in space and time.
The festival „Šare i šavovi“ is realized with the support of SOKOJ, Prava izvođača, the Saša Marčeta Foundation, and the Mačkov Podrum winery.
