On Friday, July 5, 2024, at 7:00 PM, the exhibition DIPLOMA 2024 showcasing the works of fourth-year students from the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade was officially opened at Cinema Balkan.
The exhibition featured the works of 114 graduates from various fields, including applied painting, scenography, graphics, applied sculpture, animation, illustration, photography, conservation and restoration, stage costume, contemporary clothing, industrial design, interior architecture and furniture design, ceramics, textiles, typography, book design, and graphic design.
This exhibition provided a generational overview and insight into the themes, interests, and achievements of the final-year students of the Faculty of Applied Arts, with the goal of recognizing and understanding the results of these young artists as they step onto the professional stage.
In the introductory text for DIPLOMA 2024, art historian Dr. Milan Prosen, an assistant professor at the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade, stated:
“Supported by the experience of previous generations, passed down through the teaching and dedicated mentorship at the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade, these young artists grow by addressing the complex issues posed by the current moment. Their genuine creativity is guided through established worldviews, directing them towards systems that allow them to express their originality while bravely confronting the challenges of today, seeking inspiration and solutions from the depths of art history and the vast fields of contemporary creative expression.”
The exhibition commissioner was Dr. Tijana Kojić, an associate professor at the Faculty of Applied Arts, while the exhibition architects were assistant professors Mirjana Milakić and Mladen Vračević. Assisting in the organization were research associates Sofija Rakidžić and Nađa Milivojević.
The exhibition was made possible with the support of the Saša Marčeta Foundation.
Visitors had the opportunity to view the DIPLOMA 2024 exhibition daily from July 5 to 18, between 12:00 PM and 8:00 PM, at Cinema Balkan, located at Braće Jugovića 16 in Belgrade.
