Booth: Bioskop Balkan – Space for Contemporary Art AM522
For Art Miami 2025, Bioskop Balkan presents a selection of recent works by painter Dragan Zdravković. The solo presentation encompasses ten works, ranging from drawings and sketches to large-format paintings. Zdravković’s artistic practice explores psychological landscapes shaped by historical ruptures, personal memory, and the shifting cultural realities of Eastern Europe. As an intellectual operating amid prolonged political instability and transition, he develops an intimate dynamic of simultaneous engagement and withdrawal. His layered surfaces, bold chromatic palettes, and recurring architectural motifs evoke spaces of introspection and quiet tension, pointing to the need for absence and the emotional remnants of lived experience.

Dragan Zdravković (b. 1969, Belgrade) is a painter whose artistic practice engages post-conflict realities, transitional geographies, and the psychological imprint of place. He earned his doctorate (2018) under the mentorship of Acad. Prof. Vladimir Veličković, and holds MFA and BFA degrees from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Arts in Belgrade.
In Zdravković’s work, the figure is absent yet powerfully present, suggested energetically across the canvas field as memory or possibility. He approaches painting as a space of contemplation, not representation. His oeuvre is marked by a consistent rejection of visual excess and a deep commitment to introspection. In this resonance, he summons what has been repressed, forgotten, or never realized. By introducing order and aligning a multitude of parallel planes and perspectives, he constructs visual fields of strict structural precision, spaces in which silence becomes form, and thought becomes visible.

Zdravković has realized more than 25 solo exhibitions and participated in over 70 group exhibitions domestically and abroad. His work has been presented at the 57th Venice Biennale (Serbia Pavilion, 2017), as well as at charitable auctions organized by Sotheby’s and Christie’s houses, and the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation. He has exhibited at institutions such as Henie Onstad Kunstsenter (Oslo), Zepter Museum (Belgrade), Brandstrup Gallery (Oslo), and others.
