In the big hall of the Belgrade Youth Center, from 28th to 30th September, the Belgrade Choir Festival (Beogradske horske svečanosti – BEHOS 2018) will be held. Although it is the first time that this event will take place, the organizers, the Belgrade City Choir and the Secretariat for Culture of the City of Belgrade have announced that the tendency for this BEHOS is to become the largest a capella festival in Eastern Europe. The festival will be opened with the performance of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra and the artistic part of the military orchestra “Stanislav Binicki”, which will perform the most popular sections of the 9th Beethoven Symphony “Ode to Joy”, followed by “Carmina Burana” by Carla Orff, Boyar, with 350 group singers and musicians on the stage. The event will be broadcast live by Radio Television of Serbia. In the next two days, the Choir of Radio Television of Serbia conducted by maestro Bojan Suđić, Collegium Musicum from the Academy of Arts, Department of Music will perform, while the celebrated New York Gospel Choir (HARLEM) will perform in the revue. This choir gained its recognition by performing B.B.King, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Prince and other great performers. Also, “St. Petersburg Male Choir “, which is the personal accompaniment of Russian Patriarch Kiril at spiritual ceremonies, as well as the Bulgarian national ensemble” Filip Koutev ” led by virtuoso Teodosi Spasov (kaval) will take part in BEHOS festival. The festival also has a competition programme in which the most prominent choirs from the region will take part. It is interesting that BEHOS 2018 will also have a humanitarian character, so a greater amount of money collected from the concert tickets will be donated to the children from “The Hangout”(“Svratište”), but also to the talented students of lower and middle music schools who cannot afford a quality instrument.
This year, Saša Marčeta Foundation will be the general sponsor of the first BEHOS 2018 festival.
